HELLO EVERYONE IM LIM JIA QI GERALD DASE/FT/1B/21 P0711999 i personally believe that drunk drivers should be heavily penalised as they cause a menace to the mankind they should be stopped Even actors and actresses do not set an example and role model to us, our future generation may just turn out to be like them. Christopher Lee was charged correctly from what i read from the news it a good benchmark set to warn the public. So to me i believe that penalisation should be heavy to warn the public.
I agree that drunk drivers should be heavily penalised because drink driving is a sign of irresponsibility . the driver risks hurting many lives including himself. furthermore, more problems like cost of damage to the car, medical bills, and also taking into concern the lost of a life could affect psychologically to his or hers family. it sickens me read in a newspaper and find out that someone has been given off with a light sentence because of his irresponsible actions. the court of law should review their sentences on drunk drivers. they should penalise the drunk drivers heavily so it will project a striking warning to future drunk drivers to do the logical thing like hail a cab or ask his or hers friend to ask for a lift.
We agree that drunk drivers should be heavily penalised. We realised that offenders of drink driving are getting younger. This could be due to bad influences from older generations. Many innococent lives are lost due to acts of drink-driving. Based on the statistics from traffic police, there is an increase in drink drivers over the years. If we treat it lightly, this problem may get out of hand. We strongly agree that the punishment for drink driving should be stricter than before. Increase the length of jail term and fines can be considered. Caning can also be introduce to help curb this problem.
I totally agree that drunk drivers should be heavily penalised because they are causing someone's life to be in jeopardy. Most of the road accidents were cause by reckless drivers who mostly consume alcoholic drinks. Furthermore,if this issue is taken lightly, more accidents that can be clearly avoided will occur more often and many innocent people will lose their lives.
How many times do you see this in papers? Drunk driving are being penalised but sentences are being favoured by the wrongdoers.Personally,I strongly agree that drunk driving should not just be penalised, but done so heavily.Drunk drivers tend to give more importance to their own temptation by satisying their alchohol needs rather than thinking about the consequences later on.Innocent lives are claimed unfairly when drunk drivers hit into them and speed off unknowingly and knowingly too such as in the case of Christopher Lee's inhuman act.Drink drivers risk their own lives in doing so and damages to their personal belongings are unavoidable. The court should not tolerate irresponsible behaviour and subject them to harsh sentences. The fact that people put their alchohol needs in front of innocent lives, needs to be heavily penalised.
hello im kenneth teo from DASE/FT/1B/21 i agree that drink driving is a very irresponsible way for drivers to do. Sometimes the drivers themselves know that they will be drinking but that did not stop them. It is these kind of irresponsible way that led to the lost of innocent life on the road and sometimes even animals are not spared. Drink driving should not be taken lightly.
Hi, Jonathan from DASE 1b/21 here, personally i think that drink driving is a irresponsible act. And also to add on to the above mentioned, drunk drivers should be heavily penalised for their harmful acts. People who commit these acts usually will only care on how to enjoy themselves first but not think about the consequences of drink driving. Heavy punishment must be conducted to assure that in the future, such offences will not occur again..
Drunk driver are one of the key for unsafe roads, this individuals are totally unaware of their surrounding. They are not just endangering their life but the rest of the road user. A ticking bomb, that is waiting to go wrong. For me they are no different than irresponsible retards who do things without thinking..that is the problem with drinking too much, you be under the influence of alcohol..so penalizing them with heavy punishment is a good way for those who dare to do it, will learn to regret being selfish and for those who consider drinking, would be taking a whole lot of decision making to deal with before ever getting a sip.
Drunk drivers should be heavily punished as they are no benifit to society but a menace instead. They cause unnecessary harm to countless innocent people. People who drink, should never be allowed to drive under the influence. For their pleasure of drinking, they are endagering the lives of civilians. Thus they should be very heavily penalised to set a high standard on drunk driving. If people knew what they were getting into by drinking and driving , less accidents would occur.
"Drunk drivers should be heavily penalised" Discuss.
If i am not wrong, the current penalty would be fine for first time offenders,a certain number of points deducted from their history, and even suspension of driving liscence for multiple offenders.Well thats just off the back of my mind.Anyway.
The old throw-one-into-jail-and-the-rest-will-follow mindset does not work in this modern day. A good example is internet piracy. The gov. thinks they can just catch a one or two and the rest will be scared. You can clearly see that this is not working.
Thus we must learn to work out other ways instead of just the old punishment to solve the problem.
Get to the root of the problem and work your way out.
Why do people drink? To forget the everyday miseries of this sad (blank) we call life.
Why do they then drive? To get home?
Thus, implementation of, lets say a taxi stand outside major clubs and pubs will do wonders.
Maybe increase the number of taxis around these so called "hot spots"
Do you know how far you have to get just to access the nearest mrt from zouk?
Small things like this will make a bigger diffrence than you will expect.
I taught in Australia and China before returning to Singapore in 2003. My greatest passion is to motivate my students in their learning. It gives me great joy to see them reach their goals :)
